Thanks4Giving Dash and Splash 5k: This was my pick for a race in New Jersey. It is to benefit the Special Olympics of New Jersey. I love this! I also push disabled riders for Team Hoyt, so I love a good cause.
Registration: Registration for the race was $35 online before the race or $45 in person, cash or check. Registration closed about a week before the race!
The Course: The 5k or 3.1 mile course runs along the boardwalk at Asbury Park. It is flat and fast, a great race to run a personal best. This race is not chip timed. If you are looking to run your best, move to the front of the race so you are not running extra. I also had the course short on my watch clocking it in at 3.03. The weather was also great for November. It was in the 60’s but the wind was awful! My miles were about 10-15 seconds slower going out with the wind. There is a splash/ polar plunge after the race. It was great to see all the high school students who raised money for such a great cause.
The Swag: Everyone is provided with a long sleeve cotton shirt medal. I loved the design on the shirt! It is very flashy! 1st-3rd place overall receive a different medal then the rest of the field. The medals for 1st-3rd have a spinning turkey on them! The remainder of the medals are a turkey leg! I love the idea of a turkey leg!
Photos: Looking for photos?!? There are so many great places on the boardwalk! There are numerous murals painted on the wall which are so beautiful!
This is such a great race for a great cause! I also love that this is a thanksgiving themed race before the holiday!
